SIGNATURE
PROGRAMS

Our signature programs give students a deep dive into an array of experiences, allowing them to live and breathe specific areas of focus. Signature programs help shape our students into well-rounded young adults, and may even inspire students' future career pathways.

We employ experiential learning to meet high academic standards. At Gifft Hill School, experiential learning means exactly what it sounds like: giving students experiences that frame learning as a way to develop new tools to solve problems or produce outcomes within a real world context. New knowledge and skills are learned through exploration and application.

EDUCATION AND RESILIENCE THROUGH HORTICULTURE

For more than a decade, Gifft Hill School’s Education and Resilience Through Horticulture program has used the garden as a living classroom, helping students from toddlerhood through 12th grade understand the natural systems that sustain life in the Virgin Islands.

The EARTH program was born out of a partnership with Iowa State University, whose Global Resource Systems program sends undergraduate and graduate students to St. John for service learning courses. The program continues in part thanks to a partnership between GHS and Island Green Living/Planet Green Force, reflecting the significant alignment between the school’s programs and PGF’s educational structure, which emphasizes the integration of age-appropriate environmental and agricultural concepts into the core curriculum and extracurricular pursuits.
