Early Learning Center Teaching Assistant
Gifft Hill School, nestled in the picturesque St. John, US Virgin Islands, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant for our Early Learning Center. Our school is committed to providing a nurturing environment where young learners aged 2-5 can flourish, catering to various learning styles and readiness levels while instilling a passion for discovery, respect, and personal accountability. The teaching assistant supports the lead teacher in implementing an experiential learning curriculum, fostering a positive and proactive classroom environment, and ensuring appropriate supervision of students. Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative spirit and enjoy engaging with both students and colleagues. Experience working with children in a group setting is preferred, and a willingness to learn and adapt is essential. Preference will be given to individuals who are in the process of gaining a child development associate certification and/or who want to gain experience that will prepare them to assume lead teaching duties in the future.
Secondary English/Humanities Teacher
Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding upper school humanities teacher who can live our mission and vision by providing a dynamic, rigorous academic program that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels; within a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility. Successful candidates will have experience teaching English and/or humanities classes at the secondary level and be comfortable teaching students in grades 6-12. He/she will demonstrate experience and expertise in using differentiated instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies. He/she will demonstrate the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of record keeping and personalized communication with parents. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with AP English, AP Seminar, and/or who have previous experience with college and career counseling. With the island as our classroom, teachers who seek to build a school community rich in rigorous academics and daily experiences of discovery, and who can model adaptability and teamwork for their students will be a wonderful match to this position.
Secondary Math Teacher
Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding middle/high school math teacher who can live our mission and vision by providing dynamic, experiential instruction that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels; within a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility. A preferred candidate will have experience teaching upper level math at the high school level and be comfortable teaching students in grades 6-12. This position may include courses such as Algebra II, Precalculus, and Calculus. Candidates must demonstrate experience and expertise in using differentiated instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies. S/he will demonstrate the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of record keeping and personalized communication with parents. Upper School Principal
Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is seeking an outstanding Secondary School Principal (Grades 6–12) who can live our mission and vision by providing clear instructional leadership, fostering strong relationships, and supporting teachers and students within a rigorous yet inclusive academic program based on experiential learning pedagogy. The Principal plays a key role in sustaining a school culture that values effective communication, personal growth, mutual respect, and professional responsibility.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, including the ability to listen with an open mind and a desire to understand, and to communicate clearly and thoughtfully with students, faculty, families, and colleagues. He/she will be responsible for mentoring and supporting both new and experienced teachers through classroom observation, feedback, coaching, and collaboration, with particular attention to onboarding and developing early-career educators. The Principal will work closely with teachers to ensure high-quality instruction, consistent expectations, and alignment with school standards and goals.

In addition, the Secondary Principal will demonstrate strong attention to detail in overseeing academic schedules, student records, policies, and procedures, and in ensuring the accurate and timely implementation of school initiatives. He/she will collaborate with the Head of School, School Counselor, and faculty members to support student academic progress, manage discipline and student support processes, analyze academic and behavioral data, and ensure compliance with school policies and accreditation requirements.

Preference will be given to candidates with prior secondary teaching and administrative experience, a demonstrated ability to mentor teachers effectively, and a leadership style that is collaborative, organized, and student-centered. Experience in small-school settings and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional learning are strongly desired.
