Early Learning Center Teaching Assistant
Gifft Hill School, nestled in the picturesque St. John, US Virgin Islands, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant for our Early Learning Center. Our school is committed to providing a nurturing environment where young learners aged 2-5 can flourish, catering to various learning styles and readiness levels while instilling a passion for discovery, respect, and personal accountability. The teaching assistant supports the lead teacher in implementing an experiential learning curriculum, fostering a positive and proactive classroom environment, and ensuring appropriate supervision of students. Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative spirit and enjoy engaging with both students and colleagues. Experience working with children in a group setting is preferred, and a willingness to learn and adapt is essential. Preference will be given to individuals who are in the process of gaining a child development associate certification and/or who want to gain experience that will prepare them to assume lead teaching duties in the future.
Secondary English/Humanities Teacher
Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding upper school humanities teacher who can live our mission and vision by providing a dynamic, rigorous academic program that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels; within a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility. Successful candidates will have experience teaching English and/or humanities classes at the secondary level and be comfortable teaching students in grades 6-12. He/she will demonstrate experience and expertise in using differentiated instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies. He/she will demonstrate the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of record keeping and personalized communication with parents. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with AP English, AP Seminar, and/or who have previous experience with college and career counseling. With the island as our classroom, teachers who seek to build a school community rich in rigorous academics and daily experiences of discovery, and who can model adaptability and teamwork for their students will be a wonderful match to this position.
Secondary Math Teacher
Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is looking for an outstanding middle/high school math teacher who can live our mission and vision by providing dynamic, experiential instruction that supports students with a range of learning styles and readiness levels; within a climate that fosters a love of learning, mutual respect, and the importance of personal responsibility. A preferred candidate will have experience teaching upper level math at the high school level and be comfortable teaching students in grades 6-12. This position may include courses such as Algebra II, Precalculus, and Calculus. Candidates must demonstrate experience and expertise in using differentiated instructional practices and positive, proactive classroom management strategies. S/he will demonstrate the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary manner, to collaborate effectively with specialists, and to maintain a high standard of record keeping and personalized communication with parents. With the island as our classroom, teachers who seek to build a school community rich in rigorous academics and daily experiences of discovery, and who can model adaptability and teamwork for their students will be a wonderful match to this position.
