Barracuda Bulletin: Week of October 6

Student Spotlight

Fifth grader Jayeil Williams has been at GHS since the 2017-2018 school year. Fifth grade teacher Ms. Christina describes Jayeil as a “hard worker all around.” Jayeil enjoys reading fantasies and graphic novels, and he likes math and learning U.S. geography as well.

“Jayeil is always trying his best," says Ms. Christina. "He’s willing to go for it.”

During recess and after school, Jayeil can often be found playing basketball on the green top.

“He’s a happy kid and he loves to play outside,” says Ms. Christina. “He enjoys being active.”

Jayeil gets along well with all of his classmates, and he says he enjoys making his peers laugh.

“I like how everyone at Gifft Hill is kind and always wanting to play something with me,” says Jayeil.

One of his favorite memories is last year’s GHS Gives Back Day, when his fourth grade class raised $2,405 for the St. John Cancer Fund with a lemonade and bake sale.

Upcoming Events

PARENT CONFERENCES / NO SCHOOL OCTOBER 9

There will be no school on Monday, October 9, in honor of Virgin Islands-Puerto Rico Friendship Day, but our teachers will be on campus for parent conferences. Lower Campus parents are welcome to meet with their child's teacher during your scheduled time slot. Upper Campus parents may come anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to meet with each of their child's teachers. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher(s), learn how they're doing in school, and to receive MAP testing data for students in grades 3 through 12. We hope to see all of our parents on October 9!

HOMECOMING COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY

High schoolers who are interested in helping plan this year's homecoming dance should meet Ms. Francis on Wednesday, October 11, in the kitchen café area.
