Barracuda Bulletin: Week of February 23

Student Spotlight

Second grade teacher Ms. Kissa shares that Haven has a deep love of science.

“She’s very knowledgeable about a lot of the discussions we have in science and she always shares new insights with the class,” says Ms. Kissa. “She loves sharing what she knows.”

Haven’s other notable characteristic is her love of making her peers laugh.

“She always makes me laugh, always has a joke,” says Ms. Kissa. “She’s not afraid to be herself, even when the Upper Campus students visit with us. She’s not shy. She’s just herself.”

Haven says she loves bringing laughter to the classroom as a way of lifting the spirits of her classmates.

“I just want to cheer them up with funniness,” she says.

Haven says she loves art class because she gets to create paintings and other works.

“It really makes me happy and joyful,” she says of art class.

“Haven is a joy to be around and have in class,” says Ms. Kissa. “She gets along well with everyone. She’s very kind.”

When Haven is not at school, she says she enjoys swimming in the pool at her grandmother’s house and playing badminton and basketball with her dad.

Upcoming Events

GREEN & WHITE GALA AND AUCTION IS ONE WEEK AWAY!

Our 38th annual auction is just one week away! Tickets to this year’s event are $200, or $250 at the door. Those who wish to be seated with their friends should opt for a table package — $2,000 for a table of eight or $2,500 for a 10-top. Those who've already purchased their tickets should click here to register to bid for a seamless arrival Saturday evening.

Guests can expect the signature activities that we’ve all come to know and love, from the dynamic blinky lights game with its Wall of Wine prize to our spirited live auction, featuring enticing prizes like villa stays, jewelry, and international vacations. We’ll close out the night with dancing under the stars to the sounds of Quelbe Resurrection.

Not only is our annual auction one of the most fun community events of the year, it also supports the scholarships and financial aid that are awarded to the majority of our students, giving the island’s children access to the rigorous, experiential education that we offer at GHS.

Click here to purchase tickets to the event. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event go to supporting our financial aid program!

RE-ENROLLMENT OPENS MARCH 1

The TADS re-enrollment portal will open on March 1, 2024, at which point you can re-enroll your child and apply for financial aid. We are thrilled to share that tuition will remain the same next year. Your tuition payments for this school year must be up to date in order to re-enroll. The financial aid application must be completed by April 5, and you will have until April 12 to pay your deposit and sign your tuition agreement. Our first priority is to families who already have their children at GHS, so you have a full month to re-enroll and complete the financial aid application. After the April 12 deadline, applicants who are re-enrolling will be given consideration alongside new applicants. Please note that several classes are full or have waitlists, so meeting the April 12 deadline is critical to ensuring your child’s continued education at GHS. All current GHS families will receive an email from TADS on March 1 inviting you to re-enroll, or you can click here to log in to your account and begin the process on or after March 1.

THIRD TRIMESTER CLUBS TO BEGIN AT LC MARCH 4

Third trimester clubs will begin at the Lower Campus on Monday, March 4. Sign-up sheets were sent home with students this week. Some clubs are limited to a certain number of attendees and clubs are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so please be sure to turn in your forms quickly! The baking club is already full.
