Culinary Arts Teacher/Chef

Gifft Hill School in beautiful St. John, USVI is seeking a full-time Culinary Arts Teacher/Chef. Candidates should possess professional experience in both education and the food services industry, and a strong preference will be given to candidates who possess at least a bachelor’s degree or higher in a Culinary Arts degree program.

The culinary teacher/chef at GHS is responsible for teaching a weekly Farm to Table class for students in grades K-8, one high school culinary arts class, and one high school Farm to Table class for a total of approximately 15 teaching hours per week. All classes, including those at the elementary level, are based on experiential learning pedagogy with students working with food preparation and tastings. The Farm to Table culinary class works with the school’s garden class and front-of-house class to stage 5 major fundraising events each year, and the high school culinary arts program prepares a snack to share with the student body once a week.
