WAYS TO GIVE
At GHS, it takes a community to educate and prepare students for college and life beyond. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating a child at Gifft Hill School, so each and every student relies on the support of the Annual Fund to provide necessary resources.and the Annual Fund needs the support of those who value education and love St. John to provide those resources.
Gifft Hill School needs gifts of all sizes to reach our Annual Fund goal of $400,000 for the 2009-2010 school year. It may seem like a small donation could not do much toward such a large number, but each and every dollar makes a difference. From academics to arts to athletics-every aspect of our mission and programs are supported by the Annual Fund. Whether your gift is $5 or $5000, every contribution directly benefits our students and teachers.

Capital funds enable GHS to construct new buildings and athletic facilities and maintain existing structures. Money raised for the annual fund is never used for capital projects. Over the course of the school's history, capital gifts have enabled the school to grow with our student body.
Endowment funds act as a savings account for the school and help ensure the future financial health of the institution.
Gifft Hill School's Scholarship Fund is what makes GHS truly unique among independent schools because the amount of scholarship aid that we offer is over twice the average school's outlay. To ensure that GHS reflects the demographic of St. John and remains a true community school, we must raise over $500,000 to support scholarships this year. Through our Sponsor-a-Scholar program, supporters may sponsor specific students at different giving levels (click
here a to view our Sponsor-a-Scholar brochure). Many families and foundations have named scholarship funds that support students and families apply for those yearly.
Including Gifft Hill School in your family's estate plan can be beneficial to both the school and your estate as there are many tax benefits to planned giving. Examples of planned gifts are:
Securities
Appreciated Assets
Charitable Remainder Trust
Charitable Lead Trust
Retirement Account
Life Insurance
Cash
The 24th Annual Gifft Hill School Auction will be held March 13, 2010 at the Westin St. John Resort. The auction is the school's biggest fundraiser of the year, raising over $120,000 last year to support the Scholarship Fund. We need dozens of volunteers to ensure the event is success. Please contact Beth Jones or Molly Murrill in the Development Office to volunteer. If you would like to preview auction packages, they are listed at
www.biddingforgood.com/giffthillschool.
Volunteerism is an important part of what makes GHS special and we rely on the time and talents of parents, grandparents and community members to fill needs at our school. Please contact the Development Office if you would like to share your special talents or free time with the students of Gifft Hill School.
Gifts in kind are donations of goods or services such as computers, books, classroom resources or playground equipment. Receipts for gifts-in-kind will be issued at current market value of the good or service.
