SERVICES

Counseling services are available to all GHS students in grades 6-12. The counselor is here to assist with all aspects of student development through individual counseling, small group counseling, and whole-class instruction.

Personal/social counseling – Adolescence can be a challenging time and, often times, personal or social concerns will arise for students. The school counselor is available to meet with students individually or in small groups to help to resolve their concerns through individual counseling sessions, small group sessions, and mediations.

Academic counseling – The school counselor works closely with the academic teachers to monitor progress. The counselor will meet individually with students who are struggling in one or more subject areas to make a plan to be successful.

College Counseling – The school counselor is also responsible for helping all students and families navigate the college application process. Please visit the college counseling page for full details, information, and helpful links.

Developmental Guidance – Throughout the year, the counselor will visit classes to teach and discuss age-appropriate, developmentally relevant topics. Referrals – Students will often self-refer to the counselor. Any faculty or staff member or parent can also refer students to the counselor.

A word about confidentiality – Generally, what is discussed in counseling is confidential between the student and the counselor. In some instances (mostly around personal safety), the counselor will need to involve the parent(s) and limited staff in order to help the student.

Contacting the counselor – Parents/guardians are encouraged to call or email the counselor with any questions or concerns. Ms. Meghan can be reached at or 340-776-1730.
